There is literally no one looking over your shoulder for months at a time. So consider the pros and cons of that. Whether or not you can thrive in this culture will be entirely up to what you are suited for. That being said, there are several straightforward pros and cons. See the separate fields for those. Pros Good compensation, excellent benefits , high level of autonomy.

Yes There are 19 helpful reviews 19 No There are 1 unhelpful reviews 1. Very fun place to work. They didnt pay much but man. It was an awesome experience. Yes There are 7 helpful reviews 7 No There are 2 unhelpful reviews 2.

Fun place to work The environment is great There is lots of young talent and I have a great time at work. Very casual atmosphere The hardest part of the job was overcoming objections that drew heavily from past business practices. The most enjoyable part of the job was finding that outlet that was ready, willing and able to bring in the product line.

Pros Great benefits , environment. Cons Lack of mobility. Yes There are 7 helpful reviews 7 No. I was at work everyday on time. I loved the people I worked with we got along as a team. We worked hard together to make our supervisor proud of us. Pros I loved the Pay! I loved the benefits! Cons Customer Service moving away.

Yes There are 3 helpful reviews 3 No There are 6 unhelpful reviews 6. Great workplace. Confused direction from superiors floor salesman. Floor sales. Company sold collectible miniatures. I had to know and communicate knowledge of store product as well as demonstrate to customers how to construct as well as paint the product. The shop also provided a place for customers to participate in a strategic wargame in which customers used the miniatures we sold.

I oversaw these games as well as designed and ran events for this game, I worked with 3 other individuals that became very good friends and helped us do our job better. I honed my people skills and learned to always have a smile on my face. Customers were my first and last priority while employed with Games Workshop.

I would have to say working 5 to 6 days a week with few breaks over a period of months could put some strain on the individual. I will always take away the camaraderie with my team members as well as my customers as the bright spot to that job. Pros full benefits. Cons very long work weeks. Yes There are 10 helpful reviews 10 No There are 3 unhelpful reviews 3. I learned to open up about my inner nerd, to show others why i loved a hobby and not be afraid of the resultant judgements and nerd-calling, to truly be myself and show others what i enjoyed, and get paid for it.

Management had it rough. I worked when there was great upheaval at the company, and policy changed drastically when i left. I'm a fan of the old management, and although gruff, rough, and impersonal, they did their jobs well and maintained a psudo-militaristic discipline to the hires.

Games Workshop, even to this day, retains a completely unique culture you have to experience to understand. Coworkers were all upstanding.

Became my friends for years after working. Hardest part of the job was meeting quotas for sales. Proactive work helped by leaps and bounds, but there was only so many people you could sell a starter set to throughout the week. We were the used car salesmen of the tabletop world.

Aside from that, everyone who took the game seriously enough to come into the stores and play, were GREAT people. You had your fedora wearing neck-beard occasionally, but otherwise the fact that you worked at a place that sold your favorite thing, is an unavoidable plus. Pros You work with your hobby!

Preparing for interview questions about culture will help you communicate your ability to add value to their company. Researching potential employers is vital to an effective job search. The culture of a business develops over time as management and employees determine the values of their company. Many companies aim to have a culture that attracts the most qualified candidates, while prospective employees may look for a workplace that supports their personal values.

Each company's business culture is unique to its attitudes and actions. One of the more important things to consider is the company itself. You might ask yourself questions such as:. Find jobs. Company reviews. Find salaries. Not only does it boost concentration and energy levels, but it helps you keep your employees physically healthy.

These games are exceptionally fun, and encourage your employees to really think outside the box, and get their creative juices flowing. In the story game, players sit in a big circle. Each player takes a blank piece of paper, and writes the first sentence of a story. Once done, everybody passes their paper to the person on their left. The next person reads the previous sentences, then writes the next sentence.

However, before passing this on, they fold the previous sentence over so that it cannot be seen. This way, each player is only ever following on from the very last sentence in the story. This can make the stories disjointed, surprising, and most of all, hilarious.

Once the bottom of the page is reached, the story ends. And everybody reads out the end result to the rest of the group. Similar to the story game, players sit in a circle and each take a piece of blank paper.

Everybody draws a head, of any sort — it could be a gentleman with a moustache and a hat, or it could be a 7-eyed octopus. Once done, players fold the paper over so that only the very bottom part of the head is showing. These heads get passed to the left, and then each player draws a torso and arms if indeed arms are required!

Again, this gets folded and passed. A paper plane competition is a great way to encourage creative thinking, while promoting careful planning and craftsmanship, and tying in a bit of healthy competitive spirit.

You can give out numerous prizes for the planes your colleagues build — including the plane to fly the farthest, and the plane that stays in the air for longest.

Take a regular Jenga set, and divide all blocks between players. Ask employees to take a pen, and write down a different scenario on each block. For example, if you wanted to keep this game work-related, you could ask players to write down a situation that might happen in the workplace.

You can ask for serious scenarios e. Then, set up the game as normal. When a player removes a block, they must read the scenario, and then describe to the rest of the room how they would deal with it. We like the idea of hosting a quiz once a week, or once a month. You can run this for individuals or for teams. Pick an appropriate subject matter, and create a quiz with around questions — that tends to be the ideal number. You might want to provide snacks and drinks.

Obviously, this is a fairly seasonal game… but actually, you can play this all year round. Just call it something else! In a game of Secret Santa, all participants put their own name into a hat, and then draw a secret name back out. They will be buying a gift for this person, in secret.

Another seasonal little game, but one that can make your office look super spooky for Halloween — while providing lots of fun in the run up. You can either set up a pumpkin carving station at the office, or even just ask employees to bring in their own creations from home. Jason's favourite Workstars value is: We invest in Intuition.
